How the hell can I fix this? Anybody have this happen in your truck? It's pissing me off. The latch is broken off the door and I'm trying to figure out s way to make it latch again and haven't come up with anything good yet. Either the dealer or the previous owner put some sticky Velcro in it but the Mississippi heat has unstuck it

Suggest you fix it correctly and go buy a new latch...

I had the same thing happen to me. Unfortunately, Ford does not sell the door by itself and you would have to buy the whole assembly. I suggest going to a scrap yard and see if they have any 05-08 F150s on the lot. I was able to find a door when I went to Dallas and it was less than $20 if I remember correctly. Good luck!

Yeah the scrapyard is a good idea I haven't thought about that. Looked online but like you, I'm not buying the whole assembly just for that one door. How is the door supposed to come off? I don't see any other way except to just pull it off but don't want to break anything and have to buy the whole assembly anyway

Never mind, got it off. Only broke the tabs on the door, don't care about those anyway

I was going to suggest a magnet and piece of metal; the 3M automotive two sided tape works excellent in the hot humid summer heat here in Florida, so I'm confident it would work in Mississippi as well.

hahaha there you go. I only have the first overhead with the lights built in. I had to remove the whole thing and unplug the harness for the lights. Once I had it removed there's a "special" sort of twist and pull maneuver I had to do to get the tabs off without breaking one side and the other comes off easier. I am not sure how you remove the one you have since I don't have the rails but I am glad you got it off.

Looking for the door is the tough part. Even on ebay they try to sell you the whole thing but junk yards are the best bet. Sometimes on craigslist you can also find an 05-08 F150 for parts. Good luck!

Thanks sailor.. I'll figure something out eventually, I'm just happy to not have it slapping in my ear randomly driving down the road for the moment.

And bucko, that's a great idea, just wish I had seen your post 5 minutes sooner. I was driving when I posted this and ripped the door off while driving as well. Then literally 2, maybe 3 minutes later my phone dinged telling me you had replied to my post. Then a few dirty words were mumbled..
