Ok so my hinge spring snapped in half.Holy crap it sounded like a firecracker in the truck.
Anyhow, I found the whole new hinge with spring and was looking today on how to get it apart and I’m stumped. How do yoi access the bottom half of tue hinge so it be unscrewed Thanks

you may have to remove the entire box from the center console. there are i thin four screws in the bottom of the box. remove those and the box will come out. There are four points that will need to be worked. They are held in place almost like a clip but just a bump of plastic and a hole. You'll see what I am talking about when you get to it.

Forgot to mention... it will be easier to remove the box part if you remove the part around the shifter first. This can be done by lifting the lid of the box, and pulling up on the front piece it is just held in with clips and it will come free with little force. Lift where the box lid makes contact.
