Default Need to replace felt in drivers window track

I have a non heritage 2004 F-150 and the drivers window is making a screeching/squeaking noise when I raise the window. I'm guessing the felt is worn off and the glass is rubbing on the rubber weather stripping. Does anyone have any ideas on where to get the part and how to fix it?

My 08 drivers window does this too...but, my felt is good...I clean the tracks all the time and it helps.

What do you use to clean? Can you do it without taking door panel off?

I just posted a similar question not too long ago and came up empty. I ended up getting them from a Ford dealer online. Super frustrating because they have several names such as belt weatherstrip, window sweep, window seal etc. I have the same issue as you and thought I had to replace the whole piece both inner and outer and I am not sure you can just replace any felt but I could be wrong. I took the panel off a while ago and greased what I could but did'nt help. I assumed the actual rubber is dried like a wiper blade and causing the squeeking . I have'nt received them yet and the hand drawn pics online are horrible and generic. I think I have the part #'s and paid around $100 for both. Inner # 5L3Z1821456AA. Outer # 6L3Z1821453A. Good luck

I'm going to try the cleaning with a wet rag first, hopefully that works.

No problem. Mine are actually quiet when its damp or raining but as soon as it dries out it sounds horrible and when I shut my door with the window down it sounds as if my window is detached. Hopefully the rag works for you
