Didn't have a lot of time to work tonight but I double checked everything. Turned the crankshaft a bunch of times, everything seems okay. Tightened the phaser bolts, +90degrees. It was turning the cam over, so I only got like 80 degrees maybe...
Cleaned the valve covers and front cover. Removed the front main oil seal, still trying to install the new. I will have to look for some tricks on here.


I want to make sure I bought the correct sealant for the engine block joints.
Will this work? Permatex Ultra Black Gasket Maker.

Having one hell of a time installing the new front oil seal...
And I didn't take a picture before I removed the old one


I assume the seal has to be flush with the inside edge?


Update - Got it down flush now...just needed to hit harder, very hard

Wow, putting everything back on was an adventure on the lines of F%$k up city, but I was able to get it done.


First I cross threaded a hole on the bottom of the front cover/oil pan. Was able to drill 1/4" of threads away and get back to good threads.


2nd and my lowest point of depression, while using a harmonic pulley puller to install it, I kept trying to push it on deeper, even though it was all the way on, I just thought is needed to go 1/8" more (TAKE A PICTURE OF EVERY THING BEFORE YOU REMOVE IT!) The adaptor pulled out of the crank shaft, total f'ing the starting threads. After multiple attempts to fix it (while in panic mode) I finally made the decision a tap was needed. Luckily the farmer down the road had the correct one, and with in 10 seconds I was saved!


Surprisingly the passenger valve cover popped in 2 mins!
New Mobil 1, Motor craft filter and some Zerex G05 Radiator coolant.


Ready for start up, held down the gas pedal and cycled oil 4 different times.


Then the real deal----------SUCCESS!!!!


The truck started, quiet, can only hear the injectors. Let it idle, burned off all the oil/coolant spill. Rev'd it up, no chain noise
No codes, refilled coolant after the thermostat opened up.
Only took it for a 2 mile drive, 55mpg at the most. Big snow storm coming, I will take for a longer driver tomorrow then recheck fluids and look for anything out of the ordinary.


I think I will be stressed for the next 100 miles, making sure nothing wrong pops up.
