Need help on re-gearing
Have a 05 2wd, just got some 305/55-20 Trail Grapplers, now next on the list is to re-gear. But I have no clue what I'm looking at, any pointers ??
Is this something I can do myself ? How much should I save up for this ???
Thanks

Do you have 3:55 or 3:73 ratio either way that tire is about a 31' I wouldn't even worry about changing the gears save the money.... 35' and up is when id recommended a gear change
But if you really wanna change I guess go 4:10
That's my take on it
Can't do it yourself it's timely and everything has to be angled perfect
Expensive $600-$900 - lucky you have a 2wd otherwise it be double

X2.... I'd personally never re-gear for a 305 tire, even with 3.55's.
I run 285's with 3.55 gears. Can't tell the difference between them and stock.
It's definitely a job that's best left to a pro.

I agree...leave the re-gear to the pro's. Unless you know what you're doing...but if you're asking for info here, I'm thinking youv'e never done it before. I was told with my Ranger not to touch it, but I didn't listen. Researched for about 9 months, read alot, asked alot of questions to those that do it professionally, and double checked with them before I sealed each pumpkin up....Pinion depth, back lash, crush sleeve, initial torque break reading on pinion, gear pattern on both drive and coast have to be with in about .008 of what specification is. And I'm sure I might have missed something here...lot's to keep in mind...that's why it costs so much. But if you have the money go for it...but more info on your truck and what you plan to use it for would help for a better answer to your question.

Gears are nothing you want to attempt!!!! Thats why the labor isnt cheap.. Gears have to be put in perfectly by someone very experienced or you will have problems.. Yea be lucky you just have to do the rear. You really pay for what you get when it comes to gears. You have NOTHING to worry about with that size tire no matter what gear your f150 came with. if anything get youself a edge programmer.
