Default Need help with new Exhaust choice.

I'm looking to change a few things on my stock exhaust. I have a 05 FX4 SCREW. I would like to stick with the SI/SO setup. I thought of changing the muffler to a Borla 40085 XR 1 Stainless or a Flowmaster 40 series and then swapping the piping from that to the back along with a tip. I'm gonna stick with the stock 2.5" piping. I don't think the local muffler shop could do 3". They also told me to stick with the cats that are on the truck. I'm new to the exhaust world and would like some help choosing the right setup. I'd like to pick up some sound out of it. Engine is way too loud in these trucks for my liking. Should I go with a Borla or a Flowmaster, or something else?? Do I need Hi Flow cats? I am quite confused and figured you guys would definitely point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the help.

I would pick Borla over Flowmaster. My bud has a borla on his chevy 6.0 and it sounds great. Also the borla is a straight through muffler while the flowmaster is a baffled (Chambered) muffler that will actually restrict exhaust flow. Minimal, but why spend money purely for sound, lets at least not hinder the engine breathing while we are at it!

Also, High Flow Cats are going to be a waist of money these Cats flow well enough as it is so the performance/$ would be negligible.

Not gonna lie, I went with a cheaper kit off ebay but it came with a flowmaster 40 original series. I just installed it like two days ago. Put tips on it today. But I do like how it sounds.

I know you want to keep the SI/SO, but check out the off-road Roush systems. I have the dual side exit and I love it. No drone at all really in the cab, and it sounds mean when you get into it.

I was originally going to buy the mbrp but i'm gonna switch out the muffler to save money. Would love to have the mbrp but don't wanna spend that much.

If you going just for sound you don't need to change to high flow cats. I have the magnaflow 14" muffler SI/DO turndowns and I love the sound, deep but not loud, it does have some drone but then again if I didn't want to hear the exhaust I would have stuck with the stock exhaust.
