Does anyone know how to take he strut assembly apart? I'm trying to replace my stock struts with bilsteins as I'm putting my lift on and I can't get the stock struts apart. The nut on top center of the strut assembly is 2/3 off and stuck now. Can anyone give me any info on how to get this apart? Thanks in advance.

 

I just did the exact same shocks and had to cut the nut off. I loosened it as much as it would go with the spring compressed of course and then used my sawzall to cut it.

 

I don't have the tools to safely cut them so I'm taking them to a shop today and praying they have the right equipment to take them apart. The threads on the top stud appear to be ruined on mine, which is why I think the nut stopped coming off. This whole process has turned out to be a huge PITA.

 

Did u cut the nut or the shaft of the strut?
