Need advise!!!!
So I have a loud clunk when I take off from first gear. Feels like its coming from the center of the floor. Here's the thing I thought it could be a tranny issue at first which really scared me at first because I have had issues with trannies in other cars haha.
I took it to my mechanic and he diagnosed it as a bad u joint. I could go with this idea because when I go slow on take off then it happens after 10 or 15 miles an hour so shouldn't be a tranny issue. The second time I took it to him he says its the motor mounts.
The truck has 109000 miles and I heard that's low miles to need them. Could this be a problem or do you think it's the u joint? I am going to get a second opinion tomorrow because I just don't trust it. Has anyone had this problem before? And if so what did you do? Also if anyone has any advise on this I would be greatful.

The U-joints aren't really serviceable from what I have read. I've never really researched it but from what I have, you need to replace the whole driveshaft unless you have a certain model that has serviceable U-joints. It seems like some have U-joints that can be replaced but others have a balanced driveshaft that needs to be replaced as a whole unit. Good news, you should be able to test the U-joints by wiggling the drive shaft and see if there is any play. U-joints are pretty common to fail (especially if you are doing burnouts) and are easy to replace if you have a serviceable driveshaft
