My spark plug experience.
Well my truck finally rolled over the 60k mark and I thought I'd take it for a 60k service. The day before I was going to make the appt. I tried passing a car and my truck stuttered a bit and the check engine light started flashing. Great, the mis-fires have begun. Anyways, I made the appt. and dropped it off this morning. The dealership quotes me $389 for the 60k service; flush the tranny, inspect, lube oil filter, fuel and air filters blah blah blah. Then the tech calls, two seperate codes, one for the misfire in #2 cylinder and one for a fuel injector. The injector will be fixed under warranty, but I need to replace 1 COP and plug, plus he recommends replacing the boots on the other COPs. This brings my total charge up to $730. So I ask him how much to do all the plugs, he quotes me $1200 total, then requotes me $950 total as he had included something twice. I asked how much for each broken plug, $76 he says, but that they are getting pretty good at not breaking them. Long story short I got him to do everything for a flat rate of $900 no matter how many plugs broke plus a free rental car. Some might thing thats alot, but Im not that handy and the to do all the plugs was only $200 more than I was already going to pay.
