Default Multiple Questions...

So I'm thinking about selling my current vehicle(2010 Ram) and purchasing a 2008 F150. If I end up doing this, I will want a crew cab with a 6" lift and 35's on it. The first question, is what type of fuel mileage should I expect? I've done a little bit of research and have read that the Edge programmer is the best for these trucks so I would put one on there to help with mileage as well.

I tried finding this question out today but the local dealer in town won't install anything other than a leveling kit. So how much does Ford cost to install a 6" lift? Or does it vary by dealership?

Also, are there any well known problems related to this model?

Good choice on truck, I just traded my 2011 fusion in on my 2005 king ranch with 31k miles. You'll see around 12-16 I'd assume depending on your exhaust, intake and so forth.

That's not to bad. I tend to do more highway driving as well which helps with mpg. As for an intake and exhaust, unless I can find something used that's cheap...I may not be getting those for a few months. Hopefully I will find something that already has one if not both of those mods done to it.

If I were you, I'd test drive the 40-08 F150 first. I'll be honest if you like your Hemi and like to go fast you won't like this F150. The newer F150 trucks are rockets but the 4 speed transmission in the 04-08 slows it down. The Edge programmer is a good one for out of the box, but I recommend you do custom tuning with a profession. It is leaps and bounds better than the Edge.

With a 6" lift and 35s you will want 4.56 differential gears to help with power also. I get about 14-15 mpg mixed.

The only problem you really need to worry about are the early 2008s with the old plug design. Read up on the spark plugs. If its a later year truck, you're good.

I like to go fast but it's not a necessity. But wouldn't a programmer also help with speed a little? I used to have a Colorado so I know what it's like to have something slow lol. I might try to get a 2009 but I'm not sure if I could find one under 30k.

Custom tuning and new gears will be out of the question due to funds. And I'll be sure to look into the date it was built.

Edit: nevermind, I looked into the 09 prices and it looks to be in my price range so I may take a look at those.

I get about 12-13 mpg around town with my '08 King Ranch and have no mods on the truck. I usually get about 16 mpg on the highway but if weather conditions are perfect it will eek out 17. I have a relaxed driving style. Love the truck but gas mileage is pretty bad. My friend has a 2010 Tundra and gets 15 in town and close to 20 on the road.
