I am going to remove the muffler from my 08 5.4 Lariat. Just contemplating whether to make it a side exit (in front of passenger rear wheel) or keep it to the rear. Will it be too noisy in the cabin with the side exit? has anyone some experience of this?

Thanks,

Stewart

I dont think you would hear a big difference either way.

Personally, 2wd looks good with front exit but with a 4x4 I prefer exit behind the tire. Just personal preference though.

On my 05 4.6 I got the SLP loud mouth II exhaust which has front of the tire side exit. It is loud when the windows are down and you go by something near the truck especially when you tromp on her. With the windows up not bad. But I do agree with Dirttracker, front of the tire exit is more vulnerable in off road situations but if only used on road nothing to worry about. I will guarantee you this you will be louder than an Harley you have ever been around. Oh and don't judge the loudness sitting in your driveway whacking the throttle put it in gear and whack the throttle down the road putting the motor under a load and you will see what I mean. if I remember I will get a pic and a vid of the pipes.
