Default More stupid headlight issues

2008 F150 STX. Have recently replaced original cloudy headlight assys with new units, black inside instead of chrome, and upgraded to LED bulbs at the same time. Since the truck was new, if you had the foglights on and triggered the high beams, the foglights would go out and then come back on when switched back to low beams. Now if I switch to high beams, foglights go off but do not come back on when dimming, I have to push in the headlight **** and pull it out to turn the foglights back on. In addition to this I have always been able to flash my high beams by pulling the turn signal stalk back and releasing it. That worked regardless of headlight/foglight setting. Now I can only flash the high beams that way if the headlight switch is in the off position. When the headlights are on and I try to flash highs, the indicator on the dash lights up but the headlights do not. I have replaced the control stalk because it sort of made sense, and the part was inexpensive. My first thought was the headlight switch, but those things are STUPID expensive. As many posts are dealing with LED light problems, I wonder if my issue is just the bulbs. I am also having the dashboard issue of the parking brake light constantly on, so that could be a problem, too. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there any kind of control module on the '08 that could affect the light operation? I'm clutching at straws here, any help appreciated.

Look up Bambi mod on here. That’s what most have to do when switching to LEDs on this generation.

Tip o' the hat to Techrep. I had thought of going back to halogens and see if that was it, but just didn't feel like pulling the headlight units out at the time. I did so today and everything worked normally, which makes me think the problem is mainly an issue with current draw. Obviously LEDs are not going to draw like incandescent bulbs will. However I did have a different set of LEDs, this set contains the box and pigtail the others did not. I put them in and I can now run high or low beams and flash the brights at any time as it has always been, but the new problem I have seen posted by someone else, now when I turn on the fog lights, the high beams come on. I think I'm just going to live with it like this until I feel light wiring the fogs to their own switch. Honestly I don't use them much as they are mostly useless for down the road vision, only lighting the side of the road a little better. I think it might be worth investigating if a resistor on the high beam side might fix it. As far as the "bambi" mod, although a lot of folks have done it and swear by it, I'm not doing it, it seems a bit sketchy to me.

Not anymore sketchy than LEDs in a halogen housing.
