Hey guys, I have a leveled '05 Lariat 4x4 F150 with 18x8.5 wheels with +25 offset with 295/70-18 Terra Grapplers. I've had this setup for about a year. I do not rub but I have zero stance. At first I was okay with it but now I kinda want a little bit of a change.
After searching on the ole interweb I found a set of four hub centric 1.5" wheel spacers for $98 shipped. My question is, will this cause my tires to rub? Or will they be okay?
From the limited knowledge I have about wheel measurements, I have about 5.5 backspacing with my current setup. The 1.5" spacers would move it to approximately 7 if I understand correctly. So will they work or not?
P.S. I have already decided that I am comfortable with wheel spacers. When they are properly torqued and installed there SHOULD be no greater danger than when you install a new wheel.
You're doing the math on your backspacing backwards. If you have a 5.5" backspace and are adding a 1.5" spacer, you are essentially removing 1.5" or your backspace. So your drop to a 4".
The only way to know for sure if you'll rub is to try it. To me, your truck looks fine.
Alright, I appreciate it man. I've been debating it for a while. I'll probably end up waiting but I was just curious in case I decided to go for it. Thank you for the help!!
I had factory lariat wheels on my 06 f150 and were told they are 18x7.5 with 5.5 inches of backspacing. I had the 295/70-18 Terra Grapplers also with a 2.5 level and was not happy with the look either. so I added 1.5 Bora spacers and it looked awesome and I had no issues with rubbing. below is a link to some pictures I posted of before and after with the spacers. I hope this helps
yours are going to sit out further than his because your wheels are 8.5" wide instead of 7.5".
good point and I missed that his were 8.5" . I had plenty of room for turning for normal driving so I think he should still be ok. actually I hit someone with my front bumper and it bent it back maybe half an inch and I had no issues.
Also on mine the wheels were perfectly flat on the back and my studs peeked out maybe 1/16 of an inch so I had to grind them down a little to make sure I had a flush fit. I pretty much grinded them down to get rid of the dimple in the middle of the stud and it fit perfectly. Some wheels out there have hollow spots between the holes and if so the extra length fits perfectly in them and no grinding is required.

I have pretty close to the same set up as you. I have 1.5" wheels spacers on my 17's. Tires are a little smaller than yours too, but I have no rubbing. If yours do rub, it will most likely just require minor trimming of plastics in the wheel well.
When you get your spacers in and are installing them, make sure that the wheel studs on your truck are flush and not sticking out past the spacer. I had to grind down my studs a few millimeters to make sure they wouldn't rub the back of my wheel. I also used some lock tite on the spacer to make sure it wouldn't come off my truck, but I don't think that is necessary.
