Default Miss!

I need some assistance; I have a 2008 ford f-150 2wd with a 5.4 liter. It runs good but it has a slow throttle response, I can mash the accelerater peddle a third of the way to the floor and immediately let off and the engine will not do anything. Also if twice when I accelerated hard to get up to speed the check engine light came on and there was horrible miss. I let off the accelerater and after about thirty seconds the light went out and the miss disappeared. The light doesn’t stay on long enough for me to get a tester on it and I just am not good at trying to figure out all the new gadgets they have on these new vehicles. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me!

The code should still be there even if the light isn't on.

TPS sensor, Throttle Acuator, or the MAF sensor is dirty. Start with the sensors as they are easy to clean. Use a circuit board cleaner.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for the info guys! I will check the code this weekend and see if it still reads or not. Does either of you know where I can get a book or something so that I can figure out where all these sensors are? I am a mech for the Navy and use pubs all the time, so if I can get one then I am sure I can figure just about anything out. Thanks in advance for am more help you can give me!

You can get a chilton manual at most auto parts stores. The MAF is on the air filter box (it has red cllip on the wires and then you have to remove to screws and it comes out). I would try cleaning the MAF with MAF sensor cleaner. The other two sensors are on the throttle body. Good luck
