misfires and start up problems
first off i have a 2005 with the 5.4L. My problem started off when one day it took me two tries to start it. just thought it was odd and it didnt do anything else wrong for another 2 weeks. then it started to misfire at idle but still had pretty good acceleration. The check engine light (CEL) also came on. So first i checked my connections at the COPs and injectors, everything was fine. So i read it was common to have a COP go bad so i bought a hei spark tester, all tested ok. I hooked everything back up and it ran like **** for the first two minutes or so, i would be in drive and it wouldnt go, id give it some gas and it would be delayed then rev slowly and back down. after the 2 mins everything was back to the ****ty idle normal. so next i thought plugs, well all of my plugs are torqued down hard. I tried using a 3/8" ratchet and could get enough so moved to 1/2" and i went till i thought i was giving them a bit too much and they still didn't budge. next i unhooked my battery to reset my CEL because of how it ran after i checked the cop, so i could bring it in and find out which cylinder it was to narrow it down. Well now my cel wont go back on, i drove for 20 mins and it shuttered bad going 50 mph and accelerated even once from a stop it barley would get going for the first 20 feet then finally went. Also, it always takes me two tries to start it, first i crank it for 2-3 seconds and nothing then second try it takes 2-3 more seconds of cranking and i have to tap the throttle a bit. This seems to be getting gradually harder to start. What is wrong?
Brought it into the dealership. bad injector cylinder 1, bad plugs cylinders 5 and 8. Just bought the truck a month and a half ago and they said plugs have been changed within the last year, guess not. At least the injector was covered. Like they say things go wrong in threes, for me I guess that means 3 cylinders at a time. Ill see in a few hours if changing the plugs fixed everything now.
