Default Mirror replacement

Hi all,

Some jerk destroyed the glass in my driver's side mirror while it was parked in the lot all day at school.

The dealership downtown said I might have to get the whole mirror replaced for my model. I have a 2005 XLT. Is this true?

If it's not (and I believe it's not), where is a good cheap place to buy the glass to replace it with?

Thanks!

You can buy a glass kit at like Autozone you just have to cut it yourself and stick it on with double sided tape maybe I'm not sure how it goes I've never used it. You have a fairly new truck but you could also try a junkyard?

If you have to buy the whole assembly, I would not recommend aftermarket. The one I got for my chevy fluttered from the wind when I drove it, making me mad.

I have heard lots of stories like that one. Definitely going with factory. I was just hoping to find a place online to buy them cheaper and just put it on myself if possible.

Anyone know where I could get one?

Went to Google.com and did a search on Ford F150 outside mirror glass....got this:

http://www.google.com/search?q=rear+...2aa5b9c23d8068

And searched on Auto outside rear view glass and got this:

http://www.google.com/search?q=rear+...2aa5b9c23d8068

The second link has company sites you can contact to buy just one piece (left or right).

I also searched on F150 outside rear view glass replacement, and saw links on how to remove and replace the glass.
