Default Melling 340 or 360?

So which pump would you guys go with if you were to upgrade? FordTech was recommending the 360 years back, but now I see he is recommending the 340 so just curious if it cause the 360 created TOO MUCH oil pressure and blows seals/gaskets?

Thanks

I installed the 340hv. My hot idle oil pressure in gear is 38 psi, according to my glowshift digital oil pressure gauge. Gauge is installed in a sandwich adapter under the oil filter. This is with PP 5w30. Cruising oil pressure is 65ish psi. I recommend the 340hv.

You want the HV version. The only difference between the 340 and the 360 is the pressure relief spring that's installed. I think the 360hv used to also come with the 60 psi spring so you could swap it in if you didn't want to 80 psi one

The regular 340 and 360 are just replacement for stock pump, not high volume.

I would go with the 340hv if it's available

Ordered the m340hv of Amazon Canada, but still haven't heard the reason why most are going with the 340hv instead of the 360hv?

Like have there been issues with the 360hv causing leaks due to TOO MUCH pressure or what? I'm super curious to know so if anyone can shed some light on this it would be great.

Thanks

The 360 is listed for the mustang, the 340 is listed for the trucks. The pump is the same, they just have different pressure relief spring rates.

I chose to go with the 340hv. Same pressure as OEM but higher volume of oil. Posts I read on here some state that the 360hv oil pressure sometimes causes damage. So I chose to play it safe with the original pressure but more oil to the components.

I thought the regular 340 is stock pressure and the 340hv is 20% more pressure or something like that?

Not sure how higher volume with same pressure makes sense, but I'm no rocket surgeon lol
