Default Melling 10340 question

Are you installing the pump as it came or swapping out for the lower pressure spring?

I called Melling, they said that it comes with the 80 psi spring installed and the spare/extra spring is for 60 psi (which is stock pressure).

I understand that the higher pressure is good when its warm and cruising. My concern is that in cold weather, I live in Michigan, that I may have cold start issues. Should I have any concerns?

I'm doing the whole timing set, phasers, oil pump deal this weekend. Just wanted a little F150forum inspiration before I get into it.

I already have the pump, just questioning which spring to use.

Thanks for any input.

Later-
Jon

Sixty pounds is plenty. There's no benefit to any more, it actually robs a little power and generates a little more heat.

Default melling 360

I used the 360 because of the jasper engine video on you tube . I don't want more pressure I just don't want the oil pump leaking and loosing oil pressure . The 360 has a stiffer back plate to stop that .
