i want to turn the reflectors on the tailgate of my 08 mark lt into tail lights. either replacing them with aftermarket or somehow add leds in or behind them. has anyone seen or done this?

 

I have the Ford variant with no reflectors. How "deep" are they? I guess what I'm asking is if there is a lens with a void and then the reflective surface? I can't see how you would add LEDs without it making it look goofy compared to the brake lights beside it.

 

I know this is an old post, but I'm trying to do the same exact thing.

OP hasn’t posted in a few years and I don’t see anything recent about his Mark LT in his post history. So, don’t bet the house on that.

I reckon you’ll be splicing from the brake lights and running a harness into the tailgate. The fun starts with trying to squeeze some LEDs into the reflectors. Doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of room to do that unless you’re good with carving out the base and fitting something into the cut out and applying to the tailgate.
