Default Magnefine filter install

Before

Did some cutting and bending.

2" of 3/8" hose on each end. Six clamps, and we're done. Available at NAPA if you find the part number beforehand.

For the slightly less informed, is this a filter for the coolant?

Is there not already a trans fluid filter in the trans pan itself? Or is this filter supplemental?

It's probably in addition to, probably much finer filter. The in pan filter just filters out bigger chunks, not the really fine ones. Id be worried that you wouldn't know when it needed to be replaced.

Really big magnet in there, and a pretty small (relatively) filter after it. Getting the magnetic stuff out is pretty important to keeping your transmission healthy for as long as I plan to own this truck.

Since this is mounted after the trans thermostat, I figure watching the trans temp through Torque Pro should give me an indication of how good or bad the filter is. This one might get swapped out next oil change, since there's about 20,000 miles on a full fluid flush.
