Default Low throttle jerking

While cruising at low throttle , which has the trans in high gear and the rpm low (below 2000 or so), if I give it a small amount of more throttle I get a jerking/roughness. If I give it a bigger throttle change it's fine....downshifts and accelerates smoothly. At first I thought it was fuel injection so I changed the filter and had the fuel system cleaned with no change. I now think its the trans hunting back and forth between gears because the small throttle change confuses it. This problem has started over the last year or so. Truck has 118K miles. Appreciate any ideas on cause and solution.

What it feels like is that it's hunting between gears due to small throttle change.

Have you changed your plugs?

No, and that thought had crossed my mind, although it runs flawlessly except for this particular issue. Idles smooth, no roughness anywhere else, mpg is fine.

That's my problem but I have 3.31 gears w 34'' tires so I have to shift at like 3k rpm to avoid that jerk and such. Its hard to cruise in a high gear low rpm like you mention unless I really baby the throttle if I push it to much it will jerk unless I down shift. I changed my fuel filter and put a can of seafoam in, it helped a lot but not completely..

I had the same problem. when in overdrive give it a little gas and it would buck. even when in overdrive going up a hill it would buck until it shifted out of over drive. otherwise it ran great. I changed the plug and the problem was gone, run like new.
