Default Looking for a winter ride

So I am in the market for a winter ride and found a couple of these trucks at a dealership one of them that I am considering is a 2007 fx4 has 124k miles, I know these come with spark plug problems, what are some things to look out for and is there anything I can do right off rip to avoid problems coming up with the truck other wise I'm just going to bail on anything with a 5.4 and just look for a f250 with a 7.3 I would like to get the truck to drive threw winter and also pull my racecar, the only mods I would do is exhaust and lift that's it other than that just daily drive, thanks guys for any responses

Timing chains and leaking exhaust manifolds suffer in this generation truck. 5.4s also suffer from cam phaser issues. Honestly a 4.6L V8 Truck is a much safer bet, not as powerful. But pretty damn reliable

Yeah but you don’t need 300 HP to pull a race car

My 4.6 with a edge tuner pulls my 16 foot car hauler with a 98 mustang just fine. Even on the highway I can use overdrive until I get to a high grade hill. I have the 3.55 gears, but am considering switching to 3.73.
