Default long tube headers and cats

Just curious does anyone know about how far back long tubes will move the cats on an 08 4.6 I'm thinking about the pacesetters because they retain all of the emissions parts. I have searched hi and low to see if long tubes are street legal in Texas and keep getting mixed reviews.

Pacesetters are cheap and you get what you pay for. Have a pair on my truck and the gaskets keep blowing apart. Plus they dont hold up worth ****. I have medium length headers and had to take off the front 2 cats. Guessing thats all you will need to do with long tube as i cant see them being to much longer and the other cats are a ways back.

Thanks. So you didn't have to move the rear cats at all? Mine is an 08 so I only have one set of cats and they are like you said a good ways back.

Even if they need to move the cats back a bit it shouldnt be a huge deal for an exhaust shop to do for you. They just have to make the wires for you O2 sensor longer. Thats all they did with mine.

Was there any noticable gains in performance to justify the cost of headers + exaust shop work?

Nice. One thing to think about when moving the cats is the heat shields that are designed specifically for them. You don't want to move them far enough away from their original location so that they're not under a heat shield anymore. Maybe the shields are big enough to accommodate a move, but it's something to consider when moving them.

My biggest issue with moving them is inspection. The rear cats are just about the front edge of the front doors looking at it I don't think they'll need to be moved. I'm probably going to have to get non foulers as I plan on running high flows and true dual exhaust at the same time.

Heat sheilds can always be moved as well if needed. An exhaust shop is gonna know the best way to go about all your exhaust work. My entire exhaust parts and labor is just shy of 2k (canadian). So thats headers, 2 high flow cats, 2 mbrp tips and the new pipe all around along with labor costs.
