Cool brother, I'll look into this. For me, I'm just looking for an upgrade over the stock unit. Something that'll work better, is more durable, etc. I don't even know how good the factory Ford unit is. Strangely I guess mine was rebuilt or an aftermarket piece put in since it isn't the original. I might post pics of mine today if I get around to it.

Don't waste your time on the Ford trash lock. Get a Eaton Tru-trac for a limited slip (gear driven), an ARB for a selectable locker or a Detroit locker for an automatic locker. I have had the detroit and tru-trac, so let me know if you have any questions.

If you're buying, put me down for one.

Damn, I feel like I hijacked this thread! I think having a limited slip is the better overall choice for me, since I already have electronic shift-on-the-fly 4x4 capabilities if I really need more traction. But the thought of having an automatic locker would really be cool. I always felt that a locking diff is better than a limited slip, minus the popping around corners. Never knew that automatic lockers can be installed on our trucks. Thought that was a 3/4-tonne and 1-tonne thing.

A true-trac limited is 90% of a locker, until you have a tire off the ground, but with alittle brake it will pull you through. As for the Detroit our trucks are heavy and long so I do not get to much popping or clunking, mostly just tire churping.
