Default Limited Slip Question...

How MUCH BETTER is a limited slip rear end vs an open diff rear end when both trucks are engaged in 4wd? Do you think a limited slip rear is worth the extra $300 when you already have 4WD? Thank You

I don't see how you could have a 4x4 without having a limited slip.......?

But; if I'm wrong (and I prolly am), I would think that having a limited slip while in 4x4 would make absolutly(sp?) no difference............

........while NOT in 4x4 it would make a HUGE difference....

Lockers > limited >>>>>>>>>>> open. I get stuck in places I wouldnt with either of the other 2 because of my open diff, yes even in 4wd

edit: and what LS unit are you getting thats only 300 bucks?

Anything other than an open diff is better in 2wd and 4wd. And its very common for 4wd trucks to not have a ls. Heck i have a 2wd truck with an open diff. Now thats unheard of.

Standard on most base model trucks in an open diff. Limited slip makes a huge difference and yes you can have a open different in a 4x4. Calling it a 4x4 is a joke because you only have one power wheel on each axle.

Cant tell you how many times Ive seen guys get stuck four wheeling and cant understand why only the right rear and left front tires are spinning... thats what and open diff in a 4x4 gets ya.

On this note, any easy way to tell if your truck has LS? Besides having a buddy stand beside the truck while you spin romp on the gas? Not sure if there is something in the VIN or a door label.

I have an 08 4x4 XLT scab if it matters

Look up your window sticker.

Bring the vin to the dealer.

Decode the axle tag.

Or pop of the cover
