Knock and not the phasers or actuators
About a month ago my truck 07 5.4 with 44k started knocking at idle and threw code P0022 bank 2 cam over retarded. I took it to the dealer as it is under warranty.
They said all oil pressures were good and they replaced both phasers and actuators.
About 400 miles later it started to do it again. Now I can replicate it, the motor has to be under a slight load like in gear holding the brake, rev to just under 1k for about a min or wait till it starts making some what sounds like a cam chain slapping Let off the gas and the motor starts knocking and looks like it wants to come outta the frame. It will do this between seconds and up to minutes without throwing a cel. When it comes outta the knock there is an audible click.
I took it back to the dealer and they put a diff computer in it and no change. Now they are waiting on Ford tecs to get back to them.
Anyone have something like this happen?? I just am frustated that it is sitting in the shop instead of me driving it.
