Default Keyless Entry Code Change?

I would like to preface this thread by saying this isn't another "How do I find the code for my keyless entry without having the dealership charge a ridiculous amount of money?" post.

I have searched for an answer without any luck, so hopefully someone here can help me out. I'm looking to change the security code on my keypad from the factory code (which I have) to my own. I don't have an owners manual so I can't check to see if the instructions are in there if, in fact, it's at all possible. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. Enter the permanent factory remote keyless entry (RKE) keypad code
  2. Press the 1/2 button within 5 seconds to activate the programming mode
  3. Program in your new keypad code. The locks should then lock and unlock to confirm the new code.
EDIT: Also your factory code will still work...you can not erase it.
