Default K&N Cold Air Intake

I have a 2007 F150 FX2 with the 5.4 3V & currently using a K&N filter. I know the stock plumbing is restrictive but how much will the K&N Cold Air kit help with stock exhaust? Not looking for a huge increase just better acceleration & gas mileage. Anyone make this change & how is it working out for you? Worth the price?

Doesn't do anything, but make a little noise.
The stock intake is already a cold air infake, and it does just fine.

x2 on this assessment. No gains will be noticed.

Yeah, I bought into the hot-air intake hype. More top-end noise and +3 cool points. That's about it. A tune may help optimize it if you got one.

Trying to put more air in does nothing if you don’t upgrade the exhaust... and even so, most have found aftermarket kits give them no noticeable gains on power, just noise as stated above.

Thanks for the info Gentleman. You confirmed my general opinion. I talked to one or two guys that installed one & of course they bragged about the improvement. But I think they just didn't want to admit it was a waste of cash. It did look like the factory plastic tubing was a bit restrictive,(smaller O.D) but just wasn't sure K&N would help flow on stock engine & exhaust. At my age the cool factor of loud exhaust & intake sound doesn't impress me. I'm reminded every morning by my young neighbor & his straight pipes.

Do tuners offer much advantage? If so what do you guys recommend? Thanks Again!

Yeah, tuners are great. My truck has almost 220k and I just recently tuned it. IDK why I never did this sooner.

Gryphon
Not only the tunes (canned ones are actually kind of good). But all of the data points you can view, OBD codes, etc. Aaaaannnd, I can change the LCD display to match my trucks' high-speed, green lighting lol.

Tuner will be the most noticeable gains in up.
A lot of guys do the Gotts mod to thier intake. If you do a search, it will pop up.
