Default K&n cai

I've had my k&n cai on for about a year now and I continually have to put the filter back on the tube because it slowly falls off over time. I have the clamps as tight as they can go and it doesn't help. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

its not a problem, since K&N states them selfs that you need to re tighten them every so and so.

What works for me is I usually check and tighten the bolts when i change my oil or do other maintenance. and never had the filter actually slip off or slide.

Better/cheaper/safer/more effective fix... go to the hardware store and get weather stripping with adhesive backing. This will keep the seal and give you the 'counter-pressure' that's needed to tighten w/o overtightening. Good luck and let me know how that works out.

I had this problem too. I bought a foot of the tubing (google it) and installed a 6 inch section of the tubbing from the filter to the black plastic molded tube. I then installed two clamps on each side (filter side and black tube side). No more problem. If you still have the instructions, it tells you the inner diameter of this tubing; you'll need that to buy it. It comes in many different colors as well. If you lost or tossed the installation instructions, go to K&N's web site and download them for free (PDF version).

I have this kit on my 4.2 V6. The support clamp that holds the black tube right before the semi air box that shields the filter cracked and I hade to make a new one of those as well.
