Not only that, but the threads are in a completely different location. SP-546's are almost halfway up the plug, the other is where every other spark plug has threads.

Yeah, which makes think that the head design is very different from the previous Triton design. If the SP546 could go in, they would more than likely get struck by the piston. Seems like the compression ratios would be different but the 2010 is 9.8 and I think the 2007 is also 9.8..

I had a Ford brand re-manufactured long block installed in my 2009 4 years ago and it cost almost exactly $7000.00 I would guess that would be a very reasonable price today.

Something doesn't add up. The spark plugs are the newer type (2008-2010) which would require the newer head at least, but the valve cover has the 14 bolt pattern, which belongs to the 2004-2008 head. What an I missing here, this doesn't make sense. I now think I have the original engine due to the valve cover but the newer plugs shouldn't fit.

Check the driver's side valve cover, there should have been a tag there with the engine's manufacturing date.

I think you can swap the valve covers from one to the other, not sure if that's only a one-way swap.

A sharp head shop could drill and tap the missing holes in the heads without much trouble, if the casting bosses weren't removed from the casting patterns.

It appears that is what happened. Old valve covers but updated spark plugs.. so if I take the valve cover off I should see the unused holes from the "newer" heads?

08/03/06 manufacture date
