That amsoil comes out straight clean at 7k miles, i have a buddy that has the amsoil bypass filter set up on his 6.4 and he doesn't change the oil EVER! He sends in oil samples to amsoil every 15k and they send him results back telling him what certain oil to add and what filter to change, it's a 3 filter system... The up sides of a diesel motor!

Your buddy is ignorant. Mobil makes good oil but it won't make an engine last any longer than valvoline.
In reality as long as you run an api rated SM or SN oil and change it on time you shouldn't ever have a problem with lubrication.

5w-30 amsoil XL full synthetic and a motorcraft filter.. Change it every 6k - 7k miles. Been running 5w-30 for over 30,000 miles with great results. If I can't find amsoil then Mobil 1 or royal purple are my other preferred oils.

Mobil 1 5w20 fully synthetic with a K&N oil filter. 84,014 miles on the truck. 80,000 miles of Mobil 1 fully synthetic 5w20, 40,000 miles of which she has been supercharged and 20,000 of those have been over 12psi.

Here are my analysis results. They confirm Mobil 1 5w20 is just fine and does the job, K&N oil filter does it's part, and that the 5.4 3V is a well built engine. I am making 115% more hp at the wheels then a stock truck and she is wearing better then the average engine.
