Default Need help: Just bought a

2004 f150 STX and needed a little help on a noise i was hearing. When i get to around 40 mph i start to hear kind of a whine or noise thats constant untill i take my foot off the gas then itll stop but as soon as i hit the gas again it starts to make the noise again. The tires need to be replaced they are pretty bad. could the noise be because i need new tires and an alignment or something. Or does it seem like it may be more of a bigger fix. Thanks for any help and ill try to give a better detail when i get home. Truck has 89,900 miles

Thanks for the response. As i am still a little new with these trucks and any repair in general, is this something simple and fairly cheap to fix?

Open the hood, start the engine, and rev the engine. Can you hear the same noise? It may be a bearing, such as that of the alternator.

try to eliminate any belt driven type noise from that of suspension, driveshaft, rearend, or wheel bearing type noises.

if you listen closely you should be able to tell if its coming from the rear end of the truck or not. Mine has been doing the same thing an i originally though it was coming from the front but upon further inspection it is the rear end. Check your differential for signs of a leak
