Default Intermittent no start condition

Hey guys got a 2008 f250 with a 5.4L. It randomly decides no start. It will crank over but won’t fire. There are 0 codes prior, during or after the issue.

pulled the battery cable off a couple times and it’s fired up after but yesterday I tried that a few times with no luck. Then it eventually just started. It ran fine all day and is currently starting all the time.

anyone ran into this problem? Any ideas on what to check when it does happen?

thanks

Have you checked your FPDM and/or checked fuel pressure during a no start?

Just start with reading the FPDM sticky thread, then check and/or replace yours, then report back.

If your FPDM is original and you choose not to replace, you might want to buy and keep new one under your seat as you are likely on borrowed time now.

Fpdms do all sorts of weird stuff when going bad, including intermittent issues and including without always throwing codes.

There's no fuel pressure port for taking physical readings, but if you have a decent obd2 scanner you can read the fuel pressure that the fuel pressure sensor sends to the pcm.
Check the FPDM as recommended. common failure point. It bolts to the crossmember of the frame above the spare tire.
