Default Instrument Cluster Concern

For the past several months I've noticed the LCD screen (odometer/compass) on my dash has been flickering. It doesn't happen with anything else like turning on the head lights, opening a door, etc., it just flickers/blinks. Well now, just a couple of days ago, it went completely blank and I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. This is on an '06 F150 XLT 4.6L automatic, 115,000 miles. I'm the original owner and it's never been in an accident or anything jarring like that. I'm thinking (and hoping!) it's just the connector behind the paenl. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!!

There is a special bulb behind the odometer that burns out and causes this issue. All you need to do is pull the cluster and change that bulb.

No, it isn't a bulb issue. The LCD is still lighted but the text within it (odometer, compass, outside temperature) has gone away.

Well, then you need a new cluster.... Hey I have a XLT cluster I could sell you...... Its got 45917 miles...

But you need to have an XLT to get it to work... I have a STX and thats why it would not work for me. I wanted to add a tach to my truck.. thats why I have it.

I will let you have it for $50..
