Input on front reciever (mm design)
Ok I was thinking how convienent it would be to have a front tow point. My factory tow hooks were removed to add my minute mount supports for the plow. I got burried in snow today and the only access to pull was the front. Well I have no good tow points up there. What Im thinking of doing is welding up a box frame suport that would fit securely over the two mounts and pin in position. This would be a tight fit as to prevent the mounts from pulling inward or outward on each other and damaging the frame. I will weld a standard 2" reciever in position and mount a d-ring on a draw bar for even/steady pulling. May occasionaly use to manuever my small trailers but never any substancial wieght. Im sure someone has done something like this before? Maybe not on a 150 but on something. I cant imagine any real damage being done. I know it may cause early wear and tear but I dont care (they bolt parts on for a reason
) Anyone have thoughts/ideas/input?
Those look nice but I want to be able to remove it when needed. Esp when the plow goes on as that may interfere (?) Although it may be less risky to the mounts or frame. Anyone have a front hitch? Wondering how it would look and sit. It may be an option but I figured the mounts were there all year and wanted to make them look usefull!
On my '08, I installed a Drawtite front receiver that had tow hooks welded on to the receiver frame tube. Now I have 4 tow hooks! The receiver is rated at 9000 lbs pulling so it might just work for what you want to do. Check out my install here:
