Increase towing capacity

Honestly try a tuner first. Get a good tow tune on it and I'm sure you would get a little more pep out of that 4.6. You're under the max tow rating, so in theory, the truck should be able to tow that weight.

I'll look into it. I have never heard of a tow tuner but found a thread about it.

Overheating transmission and engine can cause lots of problems .
But more importantly is stopping power . I hope you have electric brakes and and added brake controller .
Put a drain type pan on your tranny and change fluid at regular intervals. Mine takes 20 quarts and I change 4-5 quarts at a time till shes nice and red .
Should change out every 30k if you are towing .
I do think you best bet is going to be a beefer truck with tow packages .
You can add electric brakes to trailer axles , you can get in trouble with DOT if you have an accident and no trailer brakes .

Or if you don't want to buy a new trans pan, just suction the fluid up through the filler. Don't have to roll around on the ground to drain it. No mess. That's what I do.
I drop the pan when changing filter every year or two.

Re-gearing and adding a better transmission oil cooler are items to help in towing, but will not help in towing more weight, as that is calculated by the frame and axle strength for a given vehicle.
