Default Increase MPG

Looking to increase the mpg on my 2006 F150 5.4L Screw with 118k miles. Someone told me to do the spark plug nonfouler mod on my upstream O2 sensors. Any ideas?

WOW that's a first for altering front O2s for mileage. Just when you think you've seen it all. Whoever suggested altering the upstream O2 sensors needs a lesson in their function. Read the mpg thread. The front O2 sensors just monitor a/f ratios and work with the MAF and injector pulses via the PCM to create optimum a/f ratios. Changing the front O2s changes the way they read, going lean or rich will not help mileage.

otto I read your post and it really enlightened me on the subject. A guy I work with claims he did the sparkplug nonfouler mod and put EFIE modules on the front O2 sensors and claims he was getting 27 mpg on the highway. I thought he was full of it so that is why I posted it. I will make sure to save the thread on mileage and hold to it.

Thanks again.
