Just in the last week or so I've noticed that any time I'm driving my 5.4 with my foot down just a little giving the truck even throttle and just moving at a steady speed the RPM's won't stay even. It's almost like it barely revs a little, backs off, revs, backs off, etc. Plus while its doing it I can see the needle on the dash bobbing up and down just a little. I noticed today that its getting just a little bit worse and like it's revving a little bit harder and harder each time.

Only changes its had recently was I did the Gotts mod, but that has already been a couple months ago and it was running fine as usual up until now. Any ideas what it could be?

 

I would start by a good cleaning of your MAF and TB with the proper cleaners.

 

Finally got around to cleaning the MAF an TB last weekend. I think it helped the issue some but it's still a little jumpy and inconsistent. What else could possibly be causing it?

 

Low transmission fluid level.

 

Check the foam gasket around your intake for leaks. Weatherstripping is a great replacement for a bad seal... Your FPDM above your spare tire and fuel filter are also good places to check for a problem like this as well...
