Default incomplete inspection

My 2004 F150 5.4L is overdue for NC in section. However, after multiple tries, it wont pass due to the same 3 components. Catalyst not completed, heated catalyst not completed, evaporative system not completed. I drove it for over 500 miles, gas tank below 3/4, etc... ANy thoughts that I can do to complete? No warning lights on the dash coming on...
Thanks,
Paul

The last part is what's important - "complete a prescribed drive cycle.." (Actually it is multiple drive cycles for certain monitors to complete - or if one aborts for out-of-spec operating conditions). Disconnecting the battery (or clearing DTCs) will start the process ALL over again. There is quiet a bit involved

@85md if you have the "Motorcraft OBDII Theory of Operation", it describes in some detail each of the OBDII Monitors and their minimum 'entry' conditions, 'abort conditions' and limits without DTC on pages 3 through about 53. It makes for 'fascinating' reading and helps appreciate the smarts programmed into the PCMs. If you do not have a copy, it can be downloaded - free - from:

https://www.motorcraftservice.com/freeresources/obd Just scroll down and find your model and click on it.

Some possible factors keeping yours from completing - The EVAP monitor requires THREE (3) Sixty MPH to Forty MPH (no-breaking) Decelerations during a drive cycle - after the Soak Time (six hours) has been met. That test aborts if IAT is > 100 degrees or if fuel tank is ( > 75% or < 25%). /// Guess it's looking for freeway driving going to work first thing in the morning! /// haha

The Misfire Monitor (and thus Catalyst Monitor) is 'paused/disabled' until the Ignition Wheel Profile is 'learned' in KeepAlive Memory - and THAT requires an engine Fuel Cutoff deceleration (coasting w/o breakning) for four separate times - 10 seconds apart!, while between 1300 rpm and 3700 rpms (30 mph or 75mph limits). I'm not kidding ~ See: page 12 of 98, OBDII Theory Manual.

There is quiet a bit involved. And as I say - it is fascinating. My truck has been driven > 13,000 miles since my timing job (all without DTC or cods cleared). OBDII reports indicate just over 1500 drive cycles - but only 30 OBDII Trips (or in other words _ALL_ the OBDII Monitors have only completed 30 times). One practically has to write the conditions down and check them off a list to speed it up. Then some (ie: IAT > 100º) I don't know how you would handle if you live in very HOT country. On a 100 degree day here in South Texas - it ain't happening.
