Default IMRC stuck open

2005 F-150 5.4

I have a check engine code P2004 IMRC stuck open. Bank 1

I just had a new engine put in the truck last week and it drove great for 700 miles then this code popped up. It was still running great with the code and engine light but I would prefer everything be running correctly especially with the fresh engine.

recommended actions are to replace the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) actuator. I called AutoZone and they said they don’t carry that part and I’d more than likely just have to replace the entire intake.

I remember when I put the first replacement engine into this truck that the wires for everything had to be ran behind the IMRC rods to not interfere with the actuation. Could this problem be just that? I had the newest engine done by a shop due to warranty replacement from the engine I installed.

do they still sell the actuators for these runner controls, or do I have to replace the entire intake?

thank you for help.

I would check for interference first.. you may need a camera to see back there.

i was thinking the same some sort of interference with the rods. If I don’t find anything interfering should I pull the intake off? What part should I replace if need be? Or should I just pull the intake to start with and check for interference or possible missed electrical connector.

thank you

I would take it back to whoever installed the engine and get them Hot on it.

Good point they should be liable for the repair if it's a missed connection or wires not routed correctly.
