I wouldn't look at it as you lost those trucks. Look at it as some sucker paid too much for those trucks. LOL there are literally MILLIONS of trucks out there to look at. Sounds like you've been doing your research so keep it up and don't get frustrated. If you don't mind sharing whats your zip code?

I, myself have the 5.4. I will be the first to tell you that I think the 4.6 is a better motor.

Most people with the 5.4 will tell you all day long that with proper maintenance they'll last forever, which may be true. But they still have problems. The timing system is a huge problem with them. If I would of know what I know now when I bought mine, I would of got a 4.6 instead. The spark plug issue is another thing with them.

People are always complaining that their 5.4 has some kind of mis-fire or lack or power, which could be a huge amount of different things.

Whatever you may get, good luck!

I may be wrong but didn't the 4.6 go to 3v with the same timing issues in 09?

They had both the 2v and 3v. The XL and STX had the 4.6 2V with the 4 speed. The other trim levels had the 4.6 3v or the 5.4 with the 6 speed.

He said the 2009 is a base model so I imagine either an XL or STX.

Ok thanks. The listing is unreliable. It says super cab and it's clearly not it also says 5.4
