Default Ignition Coils

I was wondering if any one on here knows where the ignition coils got their signal to fire. I heard that it could be the Crankshaft or the Camshaft Position Sensors. I'm hoping this could be a fix to my misfire problem.
Thanks,
Cody Scherer

I'm pretty sure that it's the camshaft position sensors. I took them out and cleaned them a little earlier today, and unhooked the battery to reset any codes that may have been in the computer, and I took it out for a spin, and the misfire didn't seem to be so violent. I'm going to replace them since that seem to help some, just to see where that puts me, and they're way less of a headache then spark plugs, but I am going to start prepping for removing them anyway (sea foam in the gas tank, and spaying penetrating oil on the plugs) If anybody else has something else to add to steer me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. I want the truck on its A-game before I do the nearly 700 mile trip home in December. I'm already about to do front wheel bearing/hubs and the tie rod ends. So any help on the misfire please let me know
Thanks,
Cody Scherer

Do you know what cylinders are miss firing? I would start with airfilter fuelfilter and if replacing the coils doesn't help then the plugs next.

Voltage is supplied constantly with the key in the "on" position, with the ground for each coil being triggered by the PCM.

Turkey, the misfire will jump from cylinder to cylinder... The first time the code was tripped it was cylinder 8, then it tripped cylinder 2 then 3. I have had the codes cleared after each scan and a code for misfire hasn't been tripped since then.
