I was told it may have something to do with the vacuum line for the four wheel drive I did pull it off the side I was working on

Did you put it back on ? Is it cracked ? Did you damage the IWE when replacing the hub assembly? Pop it in 4H and see if it goes away...

Very likely that it is related to the 4wd system. As mentioned start by just checking your vacuum line and putting it in 4wd to see what happens. Even better do a quick search on here for the thread(s) on how to diagnose a 4wd system problem and go through that process. It is quite easy and quick to check for problems related to vacuum. Be aware that just because the sound is coming from the drivers side that does mean that is where the problem is, if you did something to mess up the IWE/ vacuum on the passenger side it might cause a malfunction on the drivers side. There may be no vacuum on the passenger side and your IWE is staying fully locked in and a decreased/ partial vacuum on the drivers side causing it to partially and/or intermittently engage. It it is the 4wd system you want to get it fixed before driving it too much or you will end up having to replace the IWE's and/or hub as they will be grinding the teeth away.
