Lightbulb How much should I get for it??

I am thinking about getting rid of my truck to get a new one and was curious if anyone knew much about how the milage thing works.
I have 11900 miles on a new factory motor but the odometer is reading 84000+ miles anyone know how that would work for a trade in? would it go off of the odometer reading for milkage on the motor or off of the work order that states the milage of the new motor. which was 0 out of the crate. They are looking at giving me 6500 for it as a trade in. I am thinking i should be getting a bit more for it. What are your thoughts???

I would say you go off of the actual mileage of the vehicle. I know myself personally I would shy away from a truck thats had a new motor put in it. I'd much rather have a nice 84K mile truck with the original motor than an 84K mile truck with a new motor. I would wonder if the truck was run hard? would other things break soon? Was the motor installed correctly? This is just me.

That is true and i know i would think the same thing but then again i would also take into consideration of the truck year and the issues that ford was having with QC. That was one thing that brought down the value of the ford name. Mostly though i am wondering what i should get from the dealerships for this truck.
I went through and looked at it in the fair condition and average condition from both NADA and KBB and averaged the four outcomes of Fair and Good condition from both sites and came out with about 9000. But am still curious as to what you all think.

Your odometer is not reading the mileage of your engine, it's reading the mileage of your truck as a whole. So you base your trade in value on that. You could swap in an entirely new drive train and suspension and it would still value out at what the odometer reads.

Trade in values show 9K? Expect every dealer to offer 2-3K less and not budge much above that. That's how the game plays. Sure their turn around price to sell it might be 11K, but then you have the next Joe Shmoe who's gonna come in and only pay them 9K for it. They have to profit too otherwise they won't be around very long for you to go to next time you want a truck.
Them offering 6500 is about right based on what you say is the booked value.
