How loud should a cold care make your truck?
Hey everyone.
Just curious how loud a cold air intake should make my truck? It almost sounds like a diesel when it starts and run. I've been that's what it was and they'd why it was so loud. Just wanting some advice....

I wouldn't say it would be that loud at start up and idle. But, when you stomp that go pedal it should get pretty loud.

if you went from the OEM air box to an open element, you no longer have the silencers built in to the original and should have a louder sucking air noise coming from the engine bay...is it possible this noise was there before and was masked somewhat by the original air box???
you engine may be running a bit lean (until the computer can compensate IF it can compensate for your new CAI...
good luck with your truck...i sounds like you may have some of the ills that plague our 5.4 liter motors

Define "Sounds like a diesel". If you're talking about rattle/clatter, you have valvetrain issues. Either loose timing chains or faulty phasers.

I mean it's going to be louder. It's sucking a ton more air, and like said above. It's an open element without the baffles and silencers that is in the factory piping. I am lost like others with the "Diesel" comparison.
