How to get constant power to 7 pin trailer harness
I'm putting in bed lights on my truck and I want to make the 7 pin trailer harness hot all the time so i can just splice into that insted of running a wire from front to back theres a thread about this in the 09-present but i can't seem to find any threads about the 04-08 f150's. thanks in advance

How are you wanting to be able to switch the lights on?
Are you going to have a switch, Or do you want them to come on when you turn the headlights on or something? There is no wire that i know of is hot at all times. Even if there is you would need a switch to turn the lights on or off. |
Yes I have a switch In the bed already and I was looking for ways to not have to run a wire from front to the back and I found a thread on the 09- present section but there fuse boxes are totally different than ours the guy had to put a jumper in place of one of the relays to make the trailer batt charge or whatever it was stay hot all the time and I was just wondering what relay that would be on our trucks and if anyone else has done this

did a search on your problem, and found this post which might solve your problem with power, then you need to switch them

Yeah no that's not the problem I just want to find out how to get constant power to the trailer charge (without the key being on) so I can tap into it for my bed lights

If you look into your truck's 7 pin connector, the pin/terminal at 1'oclock should be hot all day and all night long, if and only if, you have the relay and fuse. They are standard on all trucks. http://www.etrailer.com/Merchant2/gr...u18379_800.jpg |
Well mine never came with a relay can't I just put a jumper in place on the relay?
