Unhappy Battery Charge line on trailer wiring- no relay, no fuse, no power!!

I was going to put this in the 09-up section, but I wonder if previous years have the same issue.

I have an 09 with Max Tow, which includes the brake controller, 4 pin flat connector and 7 pin Bargeman. One of the lines on the flap shows "+", the manual refers to that as the charge line. Pretty standard.

I was farting around today, and noticed that I was not getting 12V on that pin, or on the orange wire to in the rear. I tried engine on, off, accessory. Nope.

Went to the main fuse box in the hood, and I noticed that position 9 (trailer tow charger relay), and position 21 (trailer tow battery charge fuse, 20A) were EMPTY! WTF!!!

Is this right? Shouldn't there be a relay and a fuse in those positions???

??????????????

In Pic 1, Position 9 it top left, position 21 is between the 2 blue fuses, about the middle of the pic.

Pic 2 and 3 are the manual pages. Taken from the blackberry.

Came in a package in the jockey box with the controller harness. Just plugged them in and all is good.

Yes- I took a relay from another spot and a fuse, and yes, the + is now hot.

I better ask for that "jockey" kit. Thanks for the info.

By the way, I meant pos'n 9 is top right, not left. Duh

Are they both 30Amp fuses that are needed for this?

This helped a lot!.... Especially when my ford dealership could not help me over the phone even though I mentioned the fuse and relay in the drivers door and mentioned "could those have something to do with why my trailer interior lights are not working?" and no one had an answer... Pathetic. In their defense only the windshield wiper specialist, tire rotation specialist, and guy who checks fluid level specialist was working that day and the fuse/relay specialist must have had a day off.

Not to revive a dead thread but I'm having some issues here. I have installed the working 30a fuse, and a working relay and am STILL not getting power to the 12v lead, the brake controller back at the plug. Am I missing something!!? I get stop/turn lights so I know those are functional. My truck did NOT have a tow package, but the factory hitch and 4/7-pin plugs were installed prior to delivery so I expected them to function. Maybe the PCM/ECM needs to be flashed to say I have a 7-pin!? This is new to me. I went to rent a trailer and three trailer rental places and five working testers say no go, but the Ford dealer said the electrics check out... I can't seem to use a voltmeter right apparently because I'm not sure how to test these lines for power. Any ideas on this one!?

I'm having the same issue. Everything works EXCEPT the 12v power to the trailer. On my '11, under the hood it's fuse number 17 and it's fine and the other fuse by the passenger foot well is good too. No power, no trailer brakes. Anyone have any ideas?
