Default how do I drain front diff

I read in a Haynes manual at the Napa store my truck didn't have a drain so I figured it would drain when I undid the 10 diff bolts

It didn't. Does that mean it's dry?

Where is the fill hole for the gear oil?
How do I get the diff cover off now the bolts are off?

I don't have access to my haynes

There's a sealant/gasket holding the cover on (and fluid in). I use a putty scraper to get between the cover and gear case face. The fluid will drain out when the seal is opened. Fill hole/plug should be on the top of the cover. Clean off the old gasket material and you'll need a tube of gasket maker for when you replace the cover.

Exactly what I did....always locate and loosen the refill plug before draining the diff though, just in case it's stuck. It's on the back passenger side of the diff. Uses a 3/8 Rachet. Make sure to get a fluid pump to refill as well... It will make life easier.

I got the cover off and cleaned, siliconed and put back on and the bolts handtightened. I got a liquid pump today to fill it tomorrow and a bottle of lucas gear oil. Does anyone remember how much fluid its supposed to hold? I know how to check it I just wonder if I got enough

It will take you Three Bottles of the 75 wt full syn but the last bottle you will only get about 1/4 Pint or a little more in. You do not have to put the x-3 in the front. Be careful on the type of silicone make sure its Oil resistant Permetex makes one thats specific for the new syns and modifiers its 1182 Stock number. myself I always toss a gasket on the front gasket was 7 bucks and the rear was 9 and I pasted both sides before bolting it up and put sealant on the bolts. Its overkill but that's just me.
