IWE is a separate port off the passenger side of the intake manifold. It is independent of the booster hose on the driver side. It is a single line coming off of a single port. Due to the cramped location the IWE is a pain to replace.;) The photo below shows the IWE location relative to the booster port.

Is that an '04? AFAIK, that is the only year that a)used two ports and b)used the insulation around the lower portion of the manifold. Here is a pic of my '05 manifold. Notice, only one port. The other port was not even molded into the manifold. My '07 is the same way...

Just wanted to add my experience on the IWE manifold vacuum leak. Maybe help a few others get it sorted cause it seems to be pretty common.

2004 f150 5.4 3v. Mine blew off after a back fire during a hard start, all the lean codes were set, rough idle and stalling. I managed to find the leak by making a smoke machine, 2 holes in a sealed bucket, one for air pressure, the other with a lit cigarette inside the bucket and a line to one of the vacuum hoses. blocked off the intake and saw smoke coming up the firewall.

I was able to get access to the vacuum port by disconnecting the 4 bolts that hold down the fuel rail, wiggling it to release all injectors (leaving them attached to the fuel rail is best, if they pop off fuel leaks out). After lifting it I could get my hands down behind the manifold. Looking at the pictures provided in other posts really helped, I was able to find the port and get it back on fairly easily once i got my hands in there. I did have to fully lie down on the engine though.

Hope that helps!

My son's 2004 f150 5.4. Suddenly had vacuum leak symptoms. Took me a lot of time to fine a little info problem.
this thread was the best info so far.
question: Has anyone found a new rubber elbow for the red tube on passenger rear intake .

no one has mentioned having. A rubber elbow y connector. Red tube from. Fuel pressure sensor. And the Iwe red tube join here.

Im planning on replacing y elbow with a single input and placing a "T". And connect fuel pressure sensor where it can be
easily accessed. Hopefully that will make it easier to put new rubber elbow on rear intake nipple.

Any comments are really welcome .

RB 2004 Ford F150 Lariat Crew Cab Brake Booster Vacuum Leak

;)Great Thread for the 2004 Ford F150 Intake Manifold Vacuum leak. I had the motor replaced with a Ford Rebuild. Now year later the brake booster vacuum line has broke at the intake manifold. I'll need to R&R it, but there does not seem to be a specific part for the 2004. Does anyone know if the 2005-2006 Vacuum line assembly will fit on the 2004 Ford F150 5.4 L Lariat Crew Cab intake manifold vacuum port?

Part Number: 6L3Z-9W431-A

Totally different hoses. This vacuum hose is the brake booster to the back of the intake manifold. I haven't had to mess with the IWE system but there is a solenoid on the passenger side firewall behind the battery with vacuum lines to it for the IWE system. I am not sure if the IWE goes to the intake or not.

Remove fuel rail and you can get back there to plug the vacuum hose up on the left side of the engine. (Driver)

Ray,

Thanks for the help. I took the photo's over to my local ford dealer and they repaired with broken hose under warranty. I was not expecting that. It took a couple of try's due to the flutter valve control solenoid had failed, which had been replaced after the rebuild. All under warranty for now charge. Did not believe that the dealers 2 years parts and labor on the solenoid was so rock solid, nor that the 3 year unlimited mile warranty on the motor would be honored. Good going Ford!

IWE Solution for reconnecting Vacuum Hose for 04 F150 5.4

Read this whole thread and the only solution I saw was the one posted by @pkelly825 but the $79.99 for a camera was too much. I've attached my video I took of how I went about it. All I used was my phone, as a camera, a 1/4" drive 6" extension and a blanket over the passenger side bank (bank 1) just to make the position tolerable. Most of the movement was done with the hose itself since it is stiff enough to do so. Video is taken from behind bank one. Took all of 8 minutes.

Hope this helps.
