Hids: High beam light

Default Hids: High beam light

I searched and couldn't find anything. I have hid headlights and since I did these, there is obviously not enough load on the factory wiring. I did the bambi mod and this has zero effect. Both heads and fogs are hids and both I am using a relay harness so the power is pulled from the battery.

A quick ebay search it looks like there are some load simulators that can be purchased. Does anyone have more info on how to make these?

The highbeam light on the dash stays on, low beam or high beam. I just re-read my post, holy damn did I have a brain fart.

Did projectors in oem housings with hid kit. The highbeam light is on weather low beam or high beam the truck thinks there are no bulbs due to the low power draw.

so you did an HID retrofit, and you didnt use a bi-xenon projector??

No, there are projectors in there, they are bi-xenon.

If I read this right, it sounds like your relay harness for your high beams is dead or has shorted out. TO had this happen, $13.00 to replace from VVME.com...now high beams don get stuck "on" when I turn on fogs and low beams...replace your relay harness for your highs

All good responses, I know exactly what your talking about, you didn't need to do the "Bambi" mod although this problem is exactly what the mod is supposed to fix. Your relay is fine, however you should run 2 relays instead of one. The way the Hids are wired you are using the passenger side headlight harness to power both headlights through the relay.... Get another relay cut the wires going from the relay to the drivers side headlight.. right out. Be sure to cap off each wire so you don't develop a short cct. Then add your new relay harness to the drivers side headlight and remove the same set of wires from this relay( you don't need the leads to power the other side any more). Basically your going to add the same relay and wire it the same way on both sides just removing the other light connection. You now use both headlight harnesses for your headlights instead of just the one and your high beam will now drop out when you turn them off. Using the one relay to power both sides for some reason makes the high beams stay on with the fogs and you need to turn off the fogs to get the highs to drop out. Add the relay and problem solved. Around 13-20$ and some time and your done. Also if you have done the Bambi mod.... Undo it... You no longer need it. MSG me if this is unclear and I can try to explain it a different way. No cutting, no splicing, no modifying solution. Just power and ground connections and the rest is plug and play factory connections. This is also for some reason easier on the ballasts. Many people who run HIDS on the f150 , 250 and 350s can more than likely testify to is the drivers side ballast burning out or failing intermittently, since I've ran two relays this seams to be minimized. Not sure why hids do this in the f-series but this is what i e discovered that seems to work. I also used "error cancellers" or capacitors for Hids as well, not necessary but I decided to do it, they're cheap so why not.
